Players are obviously grouped according to school, but there is no rhyme or reason to the actual order. Potential top-five round selections in bold. Any player on the list that absolutely shouldn’t be there? Any clear misses? Any players on my own list of near-misses (below) that deserve to be promoted to the first list? Any recommendations for next conference breakdown?
- Charlotte JR 1B/OF Ryan Rivers
- Charlotte SR C/OF Zane Williams
- George Washington JR RHP Eric Cantrell
- George Washington SR SS Tom Zebroski

I really like the Charlotte pair (Rivers and Williams) and the two “big name” pitchers (Cantrell and Hobson) both look like legit big league prospects to me. Marshall is the hardest thrower of the group. Best future prospect of the group is Dayton FR RHP Ian Gardeck (2012) with a fastball peaking in the mid-90s and a good slider.

How is Tommy Shirley on the near miss list? He is throwing 94 mph and is left handed and his control seems to be there. Comparing him to the players on your first list, he is at least equal if not better than all of them.
You do not see ben thomas being drated at all? He was top five in rbi homeruns and led the league in slugging last year and his season has begun to turn around. How can you leave him off this list?
Just to correct a minor misspelling, Richmond’s junior leftfielder is Billy Barber (not Butler). Barber is now batting .415 with 54 hits in 130 at bats. His 23-game hitting was the 4th longest in the nation and he continues his streak of reaching base safely in the past 32 games straight. One last note, he may be one of the few players to ever be named a National Player of the Week (Louisville Slugger) as a freshman and a National Pitcher of the Week (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) as a junior. H elooks like a sure-fire top 10 round pick. This kid can flat out hit! We watched him hit a ball over the tallest tree in left at Richmond–the ball must have gone about 480 feet! great power, big frame, sub-7.0 60-yard dash and he is a heck of a side-arm pitcher too! This kid does it all for the Spiders! Best of luck to him!
Also look for Mike Mergenthaler (1B), Ian Marshall (RHP) and down the road look for Adam McConnell and Phil Ruzbarsky! Enjoy the draft! Mr. T, Chesterfield, VA
Where on earth is James Swinkleton? He is a stud with 98 mph stuff, and a great attitude!
Go James!
Love,
Dad
